Klemmer Family Wines

We are truly excited to offer you some high quality, select wines from Germany. The Klemmer Family Winery in Westhofen is located in the German wine growing region of Rheinhessen bordered on the west by the Nahe River and on the North and East by the Rhine River. We refer to them as our sister winery, with whom we have had a very special relationship for many years.

They have made available to us a limited amount of very excellent white wines. We find them especially delightful because of their light to medium body, delicate fragrance, good acid balance, and lower alcohol content. A great alternative to some of the more heavy, buttery and oaky styles of Chardonnay.

The Klemmer Family in Germany also takes great pride in the word Erzeugerabfüllung that appears on their label. Translated this means the same as Estate Bottled. Here again, you have the pleasure of experiencing the balance, flavor, and aroma that are a unique expression of not only the craft of the winemaker, but also of their own personal vineyards in the well known Rheinhessen wine growing region/appellation of Germany.

We look forward to your questions, and even more so visiting us at the winery to taste, discuss, and discover these wines. We think you will be delightfully surprised!

2009 Riesling Auslese – dry

Another great Riesling Auslese from the Klemmers! A wonderful aroma of green apple, pears and grapefruit. The wine has a nice slightly mineral component, a characteristic of this vineyard site,. The dry character of this wine allows it to pair well with pork dishes, grilled chicken, grilled seafood, and even raw oysters.

2009 Riesling Spätlese

The Riesling grape is often referred to as the Queen of all the white grapes. This wine is an example of a more typical Rhine Riesling, well rounded with distinctive Riesling structure.  The wine has a nice amount of acidity but perfectly well balanced with a small amount residual sugar. It’s great wine with spicey Thai and Asian foods. It also pairs well with hors d’oeuvres, soups, and  poultry dishes.
